MEMBERS OF THE LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Catherine Richey
PRESIDENT

Catherine Richey and her family live in Yorktown Heights and have been using the library for over 25 years. They have enjoyed the many programs offered there from pre-school to young adult. Catherine has been employed by the New York State Courts since 1980. She is pleased to be part of the Board of Trustees and looks forward to assisting them in the good work that they do.

Jean Zappia
VICE PRESIDENT

Jean Zappia has lived in Yorktown Heights for over 28 years, where she raised 2 children and still resides with her husband, Robert Fahey. She is a veteran of the chemicals industry, with extensive experience in sales, marketing, and commercial leadership roles. She retired from Ashland LLC in 2020, and since then has been pursuing her passions in literacy, business management consulting and financial advising, and promotion of STEM careers for girls in a variety of board and volunteer roles. She is happy to lend support to the John C Hart Library as a member of the Board of Trustees, which has been part of her family’s lives since they arrived in Yorktown.

Laura Tropp
SECRETARY

Laura Tropp, Ph.D. is a Professor of Communication and Media Arts at Marymount Manhattan College. Dr. Tropp is the author of several books, including Grandparenting in a Digital Age: The Third Act and A Womb With a View: America’s Growing Public Interest in Pregnancy. She has been featured in magazines and newspapers discussing technology and popular culture and was an online columnist about work-life balance for Inside Higher Ed. She has always enjoyed spending time at the library with her children.

Barry Erenberg
TREASURER

I have been privileged to take my kids to the John C. Hart Memorial Library since our family moved to Yorktown Heights in 1997. The resources the Library provide benefits our community in so many ways. I look forward to helping the library with my experience as NYS licensed architect with my own firm for the last 30 years. My design and project management experience ranges from libraries to state-of-the-art educational facilities to community health centers. I appreciate the importance of the Hart Library and look forward to helping with its mission.

Cathleen Bahan
MEMBER AT LARGE

Applying for a Hart Library card was one of the first things I did upon moving to Shrub Oak 18 years ago. Recently retired, my 30-plus years in marketing span full-time experience with Fortune 100, startup and nonprofit organizations, as well as consulting. I have deep respect for the role of reading in lifelong learning and am delighted by the opportunity to assist The Hart as it navigates the community’s ever-changing needs.
