Ever wanted a say in the way the library buys materials for teens, programs events, what's on our TeenSpace webpage, even how we decorate the Young Adult area? Teens in the 8th Grade and up are invited to attend Teen Advisory meetings. We want your input so much that we're willing to give participants community service credit. Imagine how much credit you can earn if this becomes a monthly event.

Sculptural Wire Bookmarks
Join Jamie Ross for a lesson in making sculptural wire bookmarks. It's just in time for Valentine's Day. If you want make a present for someone you love. Limited to 20 participants. Registration is necessary.

Letter or Recommendation Workshop/The College Essay

Learn how to find the right teacher and when to approach them for that all-important recommendation. This is a hands-on workshop where students will elarn how to put together a protfolio of materials for their teachers. Plus, get clear advice from people who have been reviewing essays since 1999. It's not as hard as you think. Juniors and Seniors only. Parents are encouraged to attend this summer!

Jeff Sonnergren from Sucdessful Education Solutions is back with his jam-packed college information seminar. High school students and their parents will get a lot from this talk including the college search process, intereviewing the colleges, and how to afford the tuition. Registration required.

Sophomores and Juniors - Practice SAT
Saturday, March 29 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
With The Princeton Review. A free test. Get a good night's sleep and don't forget to bring those #2 pencils and calculators! The follow-up session will be held on Tuesday, April 8th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Parents are welcome to attend. Registration begins Saturday, March 1st.

 


Reading Buddies
If you like to read and you like young children, Reading Buddies training is for you! Make new friends and earn Community Service credit over the summer.

The first date is Wednesday, June 4th at 6:30 PM. If you can't make that one, another training is scheduled for Monday, June 23rd at 6:30 PM.

The Buddies begin reading Monday, June 30th.

Registration begins Monday, May 12th.


"Scare Up a Good Read" is the theme for the teen 2008 Summer Reading Club. Look for the next newsletter to find out what creepy fun can be had at the library this summer!
