Does the library provide internet access for the public? Yes.
Westchester Library System cardholders may sign in and use the public Internet computers for half hour sessions. Out-of-county users can request a temporary sign in at the Reference Desk. There are a maximum of 6 sign-ins a day. In addition to the 9 public Internet stations in the adult room there are two Internet access computers in the Children’s room. These are generally not available to adults unless they are assisting children. Printing is available at all computers. Black and white pages are 10¢ each; color pages are 25¢ each.
Does the library provide wireless access? Yes.
What type of software is available?
All Internet computers have Microsoft Office. In addition, there is one Adult Room computer with Microsoft Office XP which includes: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Word Perfect Suite 8 and Microsoft Works and Microsoft Publisher 97 are also available. This computer does not have Internet access and may be used for 1 hour sessions. It is equipped with a printer/scanner that can print in black and white as well as color. There is a 10 cent per page charge for black and white and 25 cent per page charge for color.
How many copiers does the library have?
There are two copiers in the library, one in the Adult area and one in the Children’s Room. They are single sided black and white copiers and cost 10¢ per page. Color copies may be available for 25¢ if one of our computer printers is not in use. Ask at the Reference Desk.
Can people use a disk in the library computers?
Most Internet computers have floppy drives, some have CD/DVD drives. USB Flash drives may be used at all computers. Non-Internet public computers have floppy drives and CD-ROM drives. A USB flash drive is available at the Reference Desk if you need to transfer your files.
Can the newspaper and periodical databases be accessed from home?
Most of the periodical databases may be used from home with a valid Westchester Library System library card. Ancestry Plus must be used at the library. Reference USA and Newsbank can be used from our home page with a John C. Hart Memorial Library card only. (The barcode begins with 21030.)
Does the library have a public fax machine? No.
Does the library accept donations?
The Library accepts donations of books, DVDs, CDs, Videos and Audiotapes in clean and good condition the first seven days of every month.
What is the fine if I return an item late?
- Adult books, all magazines, pamphlets, audio material (except videos and DVDs) and juvenile toys:
10¢ day / Maximum fine: $5.00 per item
- Juvenile books: 5¢ day / Maximum fine: $5.00 per item
- Videos and DVDs: $2.00 day / Maximum fine: $10.00 per item
- 7 Day books: 25¢ day / Maximum fine: $5.00 per item
- CD-ROMs: .25¢ day / Maximum fine $5.00 per item
- Lost or Damaged material: Cost of Item
- Lost material returned within 2 months of date of paid receipt: $5.00 overdue fine
- Lost material returned after 2 months of date of paid receipt: No refund
- Missing Barcode: $2.50 each
- Fee for returned check: amount of check plus $20.00 processing fee
- Juvenile books: 5¢ day / Maximum fine: $5.00 per item
