*Baby Rhymes
Lap-sitters 5 months and up with caregiver. Fridays at 11:00 AM, March 7-May 9. No classes 3/21 or 4/25. Register.

*Movers and Shakers
Active babies up to 18 months with caregiver. Wednesdays at 10:00 AM, March 5-April 30. Register.

*Mother Goose Time
18 months to 2 1/2 year olds with caregiver.

Special Children's Programs

*Music & Movement
with Lori Cohen...fun for children 2 1/2 - 5 with caregivers. Tuesdays, January 8th, 15th and 22nd at 11:00 AM. Wednesdays, January 9th, 23rd and February 6th at 1:30 PM. Sign up for one series. Lottery registration Wednesday, December 26th through Wednesday, January 22nd. Call January 4th for results.

All Together Now
A drop-in storytime for preschoolers with siblings and caregivers. Tuesdays from 10:15-10:45 AM, January 29th, February 5th, and 12th. No registration.

*"Meet Monet"
...for grades 3-6. Learn about Claude Monet's life and techniques; then create a work of art in the artist's style. Saturday, February 2nd at 2:00 PM. Registration begins Saturday, January 5th.

*Sweet Treats
...for kindergartens-2nd grade. Celebrate Valentine's Day with yummy stories and make a sweet treat. Tuesday, February 12th at 4:00 PM. Registration begins Saturday, January 19th.

Kiddie Kabaret
...a musical program for ages 2-6 with puppets, children's songs, nursery rhymes, and strories. Tuesday, February 19th at 11:00 AM. Drop in--no registration.

*Amazing Reptiles!! with Animal Encounters
...meet Julius Squeezer the Burmese Python, Allie the Alligator, and other snakes, lizards and turtles. For ages 7 an up. Wednesday, February 20th at 11:00 AM. Registration begins Saturday, January 19th.

*A Monster Hunt!
...for grades 3-6. Use a map and clues to find the monsters that are taking over the library. Be inducted as a detective into the Monster Detective Agency. Saturday, March 8th at 2:00 PM. Registration begins Saturday, February 2nd.

*Egg Decorating
...ages 3 and up with caregiver. Thursday, March 20th at 10:15 AM, 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. In-person registration begins Saturday, March 1st.

*Registration Procedures
Participants for all weekly programs will be chosen by Lottery. (Most special programs are first come, first placed.) Registration forms must be completed in he library between January 28th and February 4th. Please phone the library for results beginning February 7th. Birth certificates are required for all preschool programs. Your child should be the appropriate age by the first date of the program. All children's weekly and special programs are open to residents of Yorktown and Cortlandt with current Hart/WLS cards. Library cards are required at registration.

Teacher-in-the-Library
Free homework help for elementary school students will continue to be available at our Teacher-in-the-Library Program. A teacher is available Monday through Thursday from 4:30-7:30 except during school closings. Please drop in.

New Service!
The Children's Department is now checking out video games for PS2, X-Box and Wii systems. Games are availalbe for children through middle-school age, including Barnyard, Harry Potters, and SpongeBob.

Songs for Playful Children
...drip in for some foot-stomping musical fun with the ever-popular Kurt Gallagher! For children ages 3-5 with caregivers and siblings. Series of 4: Fridays, March 28th, April 4th, 11th & 18th from 1:30-2:10 PM. Drop in--no registration.

*A Wizard's Workshop! with Terry Parrett
...for grades 3-6. Learn how to perform magic tricks from a real live wizard! Take home your tricks, a certificate and a magic wand. Saturday, April 5th at 2:00 PM. Registration begins Saturday, March 8th.

*Grand Day
...ages 3 and up with grandparents. Sunday, April 13th at 2:00 PM. Enjoy the always delightful and entertaining music of Kurt Gallagher followed by make-your-own-sundaes. In-person registration begins Saturday, March 8th.

Magic Show with John Carlson!
Magic and ventriloquism by an award-winning entertainer who has had numerous appearances on the Conan O'Brien Show. For ages 5 and up. (Parents admitted only if space allows on the day of the program). Wednesday, April 23 at 11:00 AM. Free tickets available beginning Saturday, April 5th.

*Children's Chess Tournament
...ages 7-12. Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Prize ribbons will be awarded. Registration begins Saturday, April 5th.
