The Friends of the John C. Hart Memorial
Library operate year round to help enrich the Library's collection,
to provide hands and voice in support of the Library's work for
the community and to give people who want to help a way to offer
their own assistance.
Fund-raising is an integral part of any Friends' activity. From
annual membership dues, from an on-going book sale in the Library
and the much anticipated large annual book sale, and from the sale
of the Entertainment Books, comes the income the Friends needs.
You have seen the fruits of their work every day in the Library.
Their contributions have made possible the expansion of several
of your favorite collections: Videos, Books on Tape, Express Books,
CDs, and the perennial favorite, the free Sunday afternoon concert
series. In addition, the Friends assist the Children's Department
through expansion of their Programming Budget and honor our wonderful
volunteers, youth and adults, each year with a photo display.
There is an annual meeting of the Friends in June when a new budget
is adopted and elections are held for its Officers.
Watch the bulletin boards and flyers in the Library and the Newsletters
we send out quarterly for announcements of the date of the Annual
Meeting and other Library events.
The Library Board of Trustees and the Library staff are grateful
to the Friends for the work they do and the help they offer - their
assistance greatly enriches Library offerings. The Library Board,
the Friends Board and I welcome your suggestions about added services
or resources you would like to see developed to meet your needs.
